    Hi Jonathan,

Yesterday you attended a talk and reading at my university in Birmingham. Unfortunately to my loss I was unable to attend due to other commitments. However, if i had attended i was really interested in the idea about writing characters of the opposite sex plausibly? And how this can be done and does it make a difference to the authenticity of the voice? It tie’s in quite closely with my dissertation at the moment as i am writing a script based in a masculine gangster underworld (Guy Ritchie style) but i am a female writer. My question at the moment is ‘To what extent does a writer’s gender inform their ability to convincingly portray the opposite sex?’

Any insights and thoughts would be of great use and greatly appreciated,
    many thanks
    Jane.
