Jonathan — Just wanted to say that I read the two novels Rotters’ Club and Closed Circle over the Christmas holiday – my older kids were reading Game of Thrones while I was reading your books. Wow – what a great story, and so well written with great subplots, real characters, many references to Thatcher, views of life, economic classes etc. I felt like I was saying goodbye to a friend as I finished the second book. I will fondly remember this reading experience for a long time.
Also, I thought you’d get a kick out of hearing that, per book review I just read today, the poet ee Cummings had a Melvina/Benjamin-like experience – he had a daughter thru an affair with a friend’s wife (who he married after the birth), got divorced very quickly, was not allowed to see the girl, and then over 20 years later, ends up with this interesting young woman (Nancy) pursuing him until he tells her she is his daughter!
