Just joined (greetings), having read Closed Circle with pleasure and profit. Apologies if these two questions have been asked before – I’m amazed if the first one hasn’t been – but I’d like to know the answers. Equally, sorry if I’m putting them on the wrong board.

    1) why are the chapter numbers in CC in reverse order ? If there was a clue to, or explanation of this in RC, I’ve forgotten it.

    2) In Emily’s letter to Andrew (p.228 in the Penguin ed. I’m looking at) is her use of "sung" instread of "sang" intended to show that she’s not quite as preciously literate as the rest of the gang ? Or is it just functionally-illiterate Brummiespeak ?l

I might be wrong, but I seem to recall that the numbers were put in the reverse order to suggest the image of a "mirrored" narration of Rotters’Club.
